I believe that the Quran came to a society, which used a calendar. This is clear in Ver. 10:5 in Quran. According to this calendar the Ramadan month will be in a fixed season every year. And also the forbidden 4 months will be in the same season. Those are the seasons of the reproduction of animals. And that makes sense to save our environment.
